5/7th Gordon Highlanders Receiving Battalion Drum
16th June 1945

Below are a set of photos showing American Forces conducting a ceremony to hand over a drum of the 5th/7th Gordon Highlanders which had been lost in 1940.

The first 5 photos were sent to us by Dave Clark who's Father was 320391 Lieutenant James Henderson Clark of 5th/7th Gordon Highlanders. The set show the 5/7th Gordons on parade as part of the ceremony as well as the hand-over itself.

Two more photos of this ceremony have been sent to us by Howard Liddic, President of the 10th Armored Veterans Western Chapter. The first photo (sixth below) show the 10th Armored Division in formation in front of 8 tanks with the 5/7 Gordons on parade in the foreground. The second photo from Howard (seventh below) shows the reverse of that photo and provides citation confirming the location to be Munich, Germany and the date of the ceremony to be the 16th June 1945.
